Daydawnz Tutoring Service is a Community Interest Company. The company is owned and operated by Day Emmanuel Amadi.
Day brings a wealth of academic excellence, as well as a proven record of tutoring. Day is an educator with over 20 years experience.
Day first began teaching at a large secondary school, teaching GCSE English Language and Literature. Day also possesses experience in English Language special needs, Functional Skills and ESOL learning/teaching environments.
These experiences have equipped her with the skills and knowledge necessary to deliver a robust language acquisition programme.
These skills have been gained through a wide range of teaching and lecturing experiences, to a varied learner audience having worked with students of differing backgrounds, ages, and levels.
Day possesses a first degree in English Language, a Master’s Degree in Library Studies, a Certificate in Education, an ESOL City & Guilds Teaching Certificate and an Assessors Award/Certificate Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement.
While taking a short leave from work, to focus on her young family, Day began tutoring international ESOL students as a volunteer. It was this experience that provided Day with the insight that she enjoyed and excelled at English Language acquisition tutoring.
Soon after, she was employed in the Basic Skills Department of a college, to deliver ESOL units. This provided Day with incredible insight into the specific course work at the college, at the time. She worked hand in hand with the heads of department preparing the students for ESOL course work and exams. She later worked as a curriculum manager, then progressed to tutoring for the Milton Keynes Community Learning Department.
Over a period of time, working in the ESOL/ESL academic sector, she witnessed many potential learners being turned away, because of a lack of learner vacancies. There is a large demand for this service.
There is currently a need in our communities for a service which meets the language needs of English to speakers of other languages.
As our societies welcome people from all over the world, it becomes apparent that more support is required to address the barriers that non English speakers face in their quest to improve their English and adapt into the community. The vehicle of language, becomes a mutual experience. She knew that she could be of some help, by putting these skills to good use. Hence the birth of Daydawnz Tutoring.
